How to make a wave effect like 3D.

How to make a wave effect like 3D.

wave effect in illustrator

Hello friends, You may have seen my last tutorial on Illustrator where I showed how to make a moire or wave effect in Illustrator.  In continuation of the series, today I'm going to present the same type of an effect but a bit different like the wave look like 3D... blah blah, (Actually I'm also confused that.. What could be the best title for this?). I think, you just follow the tutorial, you make one and name it as your choice.

Let's go started,

1. Draw a line by Rectangle Tool (M) Height about 22 px.

2. Make a copy (Alt+Right Click) drag it to place like below.
Here the distance between two lines about 243 px.

3. Go to Object on top menu > Blend > Blend'll see a pop-up box.  Now go to Spacing, scroll down to choose Specified Steps. Make 5 steps here. (To know more in details About blended objects )

 4. Once more, Go to Object > Blend > Make (Shortcut is Alt+Ctrl+B) Now you'll see the new 5 steps or line which will be 7 in total.

 5. Select it and go to Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Warp... (Shortcut: Alt+Shift+Ctrl+W) Here you'll see another pop up box called Warp Options. Let's started to modify the red lines like below. Press OK

6. Select Direct Selection Tool (A), and edit the 4 anchor points (I mentioned them by red circles).

You can read this guideline to know about Direct Selection Tool and Anchor Points. Although it's on Photoshop back then the matter applies to both.

Actually, I want to make them straight 180 or 0-degree angle. You just keep the Handle of the Anchor Points. Drag it with Shift key.

7. This time I'll edit more on those Anchor Points like below. First select both anchor points of right side by Direct Selection Tool and drag them up to make it straight. Then do the same thing on the left side Anchor Points but here you have to drag them down.

8. Now we're at the very last end. Here you need to play with those anchor points again, but in a different way. See the below what I've done. Select the Anchor Points, individually by Direct Selection Tool and Drag them.

Excellent, You've done, finally.

3d sphere in photoshop

We know that there are many interesting and cool methods in Photoshop. You just need to discover and utilize them to make some creative things. This small but comprehensive guide takes one of them. I believe that you will be with me in this radiant for making some beautiful 3D spheres through our beloved tool Photoshop. Here I'll go with a basic information, only. So let's get started.

First, make a new square canvas with BG black, here I've chosen a 1040x1040px canvas.

photoshop document

Now go to Filter > Render > Lens Flare to make a lens flare with your appropriate choice, than Ok.

Go to Filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates, Choose Polar to Rectangular and OK.

Result is below

You may shocked to see this result huh! Don't worry, I said, first, it's one basic principle. You just need to decorate it with your creativity such as what I've done to make my cover photo. A bit more hint, how to decorate it.

I've done a clipping path by selecting a path around the 3D sphere. If you new on Clipping Path than see this tutorial creating path and selection using Photoshop pen tool

Now choose a 100% black background, apply some layer styles to make it colorful. See below.
